Surabaya – On 21–22 April 2026, two lecturers from the Department of Aquaculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Desrina, M.Sc. and Tita Elfitasari, S.Pi., M.Sc., Ph.D., participated in the Asian Fish Welfare Network (AFWN) Workshop held at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. This workshop marked the first Fish Welfare workshop conducted in Indonesia.
During the event, AFWN Project Leaders, Prof. David Little and Dr. Simão Zacarias, provided in-depth insights and understanding regarding the concept and importance of fish welfare. Participants from various institutions, including universities, government agencies, BRIN, and the private sector, were invited to discuss potential challenges in implementing fish welfare practices in Indonesia.
The workshop also served as the launch of a call for proposals for Fish Welfare research funding, which will be supported by Coefficient Giving.
