Semarang – On Thursday, 23 April 2026, FPIK welcomed representatives from the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, United Kingdom, who are also affiliated with the Asian Fish Welfare Network (AFWN): Prof. David Little, Dr. Simão Zacarias, and Dr. Tanya Kay. During the visit, the AFWN representatives introduced and delivered a presentation on fish welfare, followed by a discussion on the initiation of collaboration in the field of fish welfare.
Fish welfare is a relatively new field in Indonesia, and FPIK Undip is expected to become one of the pioneers in advancing this area in the future. Fish welfare emphasizes that aquaculture practices should consider not only fish health, but also broader aspects of fish well-being, including physical condition, behavior, environmental quality, and social interactions with other fish.
